Bilingual Volunteer Corps | Digital Literacy Workshops
At Dream in NOVA, we believe accessible education is key to working toward a community where everyone has skills needed to succeed. That’s why our Digital Literacy Workshops matter!
A Bilingual Volunteer Corps initiative, we’ve partnered with Grace United Methodist Church (GUMC) in Manassas, Virginia, to deliver the Digital Literacy: Intro to Computer Basics program in June 2026. This Spanish-language initiative is designed to improve the quality of life for non-English-speaking community members by building foundational digital literacy skills that enable participants to confidently navigate the internet and use technology in important, real-world situations.
Similar to the Digital Literacy workshops we held last year, the program will serve up to 10 Spanish-speaking adult learners, with little to no prior computer experience. The workshops will help participants:
Navigate the internet with confidence and purpose; as well as navigate tablets and other electronic devices such as phones and computers
Access essential online services related to healthcare, education, employment and community resources
Communicate effectively using email and web-based platforms
Complete everyday digital tasks such as filling out online forms, creating accounts, and using QR codes
Gain introductory exposure to artificial intelligence and understand how it can assist with daily activities
Protect personal information by recognizing common online risks and practicing basic cybersecurity habits
By strengthening digital literacy skills, the program aims to reduce barriers to access, increase independence and promote more equitable participation in an increasingly digital world.
