Position Title: Board Member, Non-profit Organization

Location: Northern, VA - Manassas, VA

Position Summary: We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our non-profit organization's Board of Directors. Board members play a vital role in providing strategic direction, governance, and oversight to advance our mission and impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the organization.

• Attend regular board meetings and actively participate in discussions and decision-making processes.

• Serve on committees or task forces as needed to support organizational initiatives.

• Act as ambassadors for the organization and represent its interests to stakeholders, including donors, partners, and the community.

• Support fundraising efforts through donor cultivation, grant writing, and event participation.

• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements governing non-profit organizations.

• Collaborate with fellow board members, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

• Passion for the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

• Previous leadership experience in a professional, volunteer, or community setting.

• Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to contribute to long-term planning and direction.

• Basic financial literacy and understanding of financial statements and budgets.

• Experience or willingness to actively participate in fundraising efforts.

• Access to valuable networks and resources that can benefit the organization.

• Familiarity with non-profit governance principles, legal obligations, and best practices.

• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

• Availability to fulfill board responsibilities, including attending meetings and events.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• High ethical standards and integrity in actions and decisions.

• Willingness to participate in board orientation and ongoing training sessions.

• Ability to assess and manage risks facing the organization.
